YOUR LOCAL DIGITAL MARKETING AGENCY
LINK BUILDING SERVICES

Build Authority. Earn Backlinks Worth Having.

Anyone can sell you a hundred links. Almost none of them will move a ranking, and some will actively cost you one. We earn links the slow way – real outreach to real publications, on the strength of something genuinely worth linking to – because that is the only kind that still counts in three years.

WHY BACKLINKS STILL MATTER

A link is someone staking their reputation on you

Search engines cannot read a website and know whether the business behind it is any good. What they can observe is who else in the world thought it was worth pointing their readers towards – and how credible those people are.

That is the whole logic of link building, and it explains why the shortcuts fail. A link from a site built solely to sell links carries no reputation, because nobody staked anything on it. A mention in a publication your customers actually read carries a great deal, because an editor put their name next to it.

This is off-page work. The on-page and infrastructure side lives on our SEO services and technical SEO pages – all three are needed, and links are usually the slowest and most contested of the three.

What a good link does

HOW LINKS GET ACQUIRED

Two approaches. One of them ends badly.

The difference is not subtlety of technique. It is whether a real person at a real publication chose to link to you, or whether the link was bought from someone whose business is selling links.

WHAT WE DO

Earned editorially

Slower, more expensive per link, and still working in five years.
WHAT WE REFUSE

Bought or manufactured

Cheaper, faster, and the risk lands on your domain rather than ours.
ACQUISITION METHODS

Ten routes to a link somebody meant to give you

Most campaigns run three or four of these at once. Which ones depends on what your business can credibly offer a publisher – data, expertise, a product, or a story.

Digital PR

Original research, survey data or a genuine story offered to journalists covering your sector. The hardest to produce and the highest authority when it lands.

Link Reclamation

Finding places your brand is already mentioned without a link, and asking. The cheapest wins available and usually the first thing we run.

Editorial Outreach

Pitching genuinely useful contributions to publications that already cover your subject, on their terms rather than ours.

Guest Contributions

Writing for industry publications with real editorial standards – not networks that publish anything for a fee.

Resource Pages

Getting listed where curators maintain genuine lists of useful things – associations, universities, industry bodies.

Broken Link Building

Finding dead links on relevant pages and offering a working replacement. Helpful to the publisher, which is why it works.

Expert Commentary

Responding to journalist requests with genuine expertise, quickly. Unpredictable timing, excellent publications.

Content Promotion

Putting something genuinely worth citing in front of the people most likely to cite it.

Industry Partnerships

Suppliers, stockists, associations, sponsorships and clients – relationships your business already has, made visible.

Competitor Gap Analysis

Mapping who links to your competitors but not to you. Rarely a full list of targets, but reliably the best starting one.

LINK QUALITY ASSESSMENT

Seven things we check before accepting a link

Domain Rating is one signal and the easiest to inflate. These are the questions that actually determine whether a link will do anything for you.

WHAT WE REPORT

Referring domains, not link counts

Fifty links from one site is one relationship. Fifty links from fifty sites is fifty. Reporting on raw link volume flatters the agency and tells you very little, so we lead with referring domains and the quality behind them.

Authority scores are third-party estimates, not Google metrics. Useful for tracking direction over time, useless as a target in themselves – which is why rankings and referral traffic sit alongside them in every report.

TOXIC LINK ANALYSIS

Most bad backlinks need no action at all

Every business with a website eventually accumulates links it never asked for – scraper sites, spam directories, foreign-language aggregators. Google is generally good at ignoring these, and the reflexive response of disavowing everything that looks unpleasant does more harm than good.

We audit the profile, identify what was genuinely acquired manipulatively versus what simply arrived, and only recommend disavowal where there is a real risk. Removing links that were passing value because a tool scored them poorly is a self-inflicted wound we see often.

HOW WE TRIAGE A BACKLINK PROFILE
Leave alone
Unsolicited spam, scrapers and low-quality aggregators you never sought. Search engines discount these routinely. The vast majority of flagged links land here.
Request removal
Links from a previous agency's paid network, or placements that clearly breach guidelines. We contact the site first, because removal beats disavowal.
Disavow
A last resort, used where there is a manual action or a clear pattern of manipulative links that cannot be removed. The file is a blunt instrument and we treat it that way.
THE LINK BUILDING PROCESS

Nine stages, running on a monthly cycle

Outreach is a numbers game with a quality floor. Most pitches get no reply, which is normal – so the work is building enough genuinely good opportunities that the ones which land are worth having.

01

Backlink Audit

audit report

Your current profile mapped – what you have, where it came from, what is helping, and whether anything genuinely needs removing before we add to it.

02

Competitor Research

gap analysis

Who links to the businesses outranking you, and which of those are realistically reachable for a company of your size and profile.

03

Opportunity Discovery

target list

A working list of publications, resource pages, journalists and partners, filtered against the seven quality criteria before anyone is contacted.

04

Content Planning

asset brief

Deciding what you can credibly offer – original data, expert commentary, a genuinely useful resource. Without something worth linking to, outreach is just asking for favours.

05

Outreach

pitches sent

Manual, personalised contact. No bulk templates – editors receive dozens a day and delete them unread. Volume is deliberately lower than a link farm would promise.

06

Link Acquisition

links earned

Following through on interest, supplying what was agreed, and confirming placement. Some pitches take weeks of correspondence.

07

Quality Review

verified

Every acquired link checked against the criteria after placement – correct target, natural anchor, indexable, still live.

08

Reporting

monthly report

What was pitched, what landed, what was rejected and why. You see the rejections too, because that is where the quality standard is visible.

09

Continuous Growth

compounding

Relationships built this month make next month easier. Publications that ran one piece are far more likely to run another.

WHAT AUTHORITY BUYS

Why this is worth the patience

Competing for terms content alone cannot win

On contested commercial keywords, authority is usually the deciding factor between two equally good pages.

A lift across the whole domain

Authority earned on one page raises what every other page on the site can realistically rank for.

Referral traffic that converts

A reader arriving from a trusted article is pre-qualified in a way that a cold search visitor is not.

A defensible position

Content can be copied in an afternoon. Relationships with publications cannot.

Brand awareness as a side effect

Being cited in places your market reads builds recognition that shows up later as branded search.

An asset that keeps paying

A link placed this year is still working in three, with no further spend attached to it.

No penalty risk carried forward

Earned links cannot be devalued as a scheme, because they were never part of one.

Compounding relationships

Each publication that has run your work once is materially easier to place with again.

INDUSTRIES WE BUILD LINKS FOR

What you can offer a publisher differs by sector

SaaS

Product data and original research are the natural currency - tech publications will run genuine findings.

E-commerce

Product seeding, gift guides, stockist listings and seasonal trend data that journalists actively look for.

Finance

Regulated sector where expert commentary is in constant demand and credibility screening is strict.

Healthcare

Clinician-authored expertise carries real weight, and publishers verify credentials carefully.

Education

Resource pages, alumni relationships and academic citations - some of the most durable links available.

Travel

Destination content and photography that publications genuinely want, plus strong seasonal news hooks.

B2B and Professional

Thought leadership and industry commentary in trade press your buyers actually subscribe to.

Real Estate

Local market data is inherently newsworthy - regional press cover property figures every quarter.

Manufacturing

Technical authority, trade associations, supplier networks and specification resources.
WHY RIGHT ADVERTISE

We will quote fewer links than the agency next door

Any proposal promising thirty links a month is describing a network, not outreach. Real editorial placement is slow, gets refused often, and produces a number that looks unimpressive next to a link seller’s spreadsheet – right up until an algorithm update.

You see every link and every rejection

A full disclosure list each month – what was earned, from where, and what we turned down. Agencies that hide their sources usually have a reason.

No private blog networks, at any price

The risk lands on your domain, not ours. We will not use them even when a client asks, because the cleanup costs more than the links ever earned.

Manual outreach only

Personalised pitches written by a person to a named editor. Slower and lower volume than automated tools, and the reason anything gets published.

Quality criteria you can hold us to

The seven checks on this page are the actual standard. If a link fails them it does not count towards your month, even if it is already live.

Joined up with your content and SEO

We run search and content programmes too, so link targets are chosen to support the pages that actually need authority.

Honest about what did not work

Some months outreach lands poorly. The report says so rather than padding the number with directory submissions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything businesses ask us before starting the link building service.

What is link building?

The practice of earning links from other websites to yours. Search engines treat a link as a signal that someone found your content worth referencing, so a profile of credible links helps you compete for rankings that content quality alone cannot win. Done properly it is outreach and relationship work, not a purchasing exercise.

Yes. Search algorithms have changed a great deal, but the underlying logic has not – links remain one of the clearest available signals of whether other people consider a site credible. What has changed is that low-quality links are discounted far more aggressively than they once were, so volume without quality achieves nothing.

Relevance to your subject, a site with a genuine audience and real organic traffic, editorial standards that mean the placement was earned, a position inside body content rather than a footer, natural anchor text, and a sensible outbound link profile. High Domain Rating alone tells you very little.

Exclusively. No private blog networks, no bulk packages, no paid placements dressed as editorial. Those tactics transfer risk onto your domain while the agency keeps the fee, and cleaning up afterwards costs more than the links ever earned. We will decline the work rather than use them.

There is no target number, and any agency quoting one is describing a supply arrangement rather than a strategy. What matters is the gap between your profile and the sites currently outranking you for the terms you want – which is exactly what the audit measures.

Outreach itself takes weeks per placement, and the ranking effect of a link typically appears over one to three months as it is crawled and evaluated. A meaningful shift in competitive positions usually takes six months or more of consistent work. It is the slowest part of SEO and the hardest to shortcut.

We audit for them, though the honest answer is that most bad links need no action – search engines discount unsolicited spam routinely, and reflexive disavowing can remove links that were passing value. Where links were genuinely acquired manipulatively we pursue removal first, and use the disavow file only as a last resort.

Yes, to publications with real editorial standards and genuine readerships. We do not use guest post networks that publish anything for a fee – those are paid links with a byline attached, and search engines have become effective at recognising them.

Digital PR earns coverage through newsworthy material – original research, survey data, expert commentary – pitched to journalists. Links are a by-product rather than the ask. It is harder and more expensive than most link building, and produces the strongest placements available.

Monthly, listing every link earned with its source, the target page, anchor text and how it was acquired, plus what we pitched that was declined. We report referring domains rather than raw link counts, alongside rankings and referral traffic – and we say plainly when a month underdelivered.

Earn authority. Rank higher. Keep it.

Send us your site and we will map your backlink profile against the competitors ahead of you – what they have, what you are missing, and whether authority is genuinely what is holding you back. Free, no obligation, and the findings are yours either way.

The businesses that win aren’t just found – they’re found first. We make that happen, from local search to your entire digital presence.
